A difference of opinion.

I'm such a girly girl in so many ways!
Girl first, geek second. ;)

James McAvoy

Yes, an entire entry on James McAvoy, albeit, a short one.

Damn boy... those blue eyes can't be natural...

I adored him in Narnia, though I didn't recognize him at first.
I ached for him in Becoming Jane, when she left him in that inn.
I watched Wanted & Atonement because he was in it.
When the trailer for X-Men:First Class came around, I was gleefully applauding the casting choice for Prof X.

Yes yes - girlfriends who are reading this, you know full well how unabashed my obsession with James darkhairblueeyesenglishaccentdelicatefeaturesjustwalkedoutofavictoriannovel McAvoy is, so you shouldn't be surprised that I'm going on and on about him now.

Those luscious lips of his are just MADE for Austin & Shakespeare. I make no pretensions. This is not head-over-heels-love... this is legs-on-shoulders-lust. (Best phrase I heard today, btw...)

Oh and yes, by the way... X-Men First Class was worth the price of the ticket. I don't think it's worth the 3D price though.

Resonance...

This so resonates with me right now... like a F dim chord waiting to resolve.

Chasing Pavements - Adele

I've made up my mind, don't need to think it over
If I'm wrong I am right, don't need to look no further
This ain't lust, I know this is love

But if I tell the world, I'll never say enough
'Cause it was not said to you
And that's exactly what I need to do if I'd end up with you

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?

I build myself up and fly around in circles
Waiting as my heart drops and my back begins to tingle
Finally could this be it?

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep on chasing pavements
Should I just keep on chasing pavements?

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?

Do you feel lucky, punk?

I spent Sunday afternoon at the shooting range! With Live Ammunition!

Got there at about 3, had a half-hour briefing where they showed you how to stand, hold a gun, load a magazine, aim, muzzle discipline, etc... then on to the firing range! I was the first up & they made us run the first shot without earphones so that we wouldn't be shocked by the noise thereafter. I was so gobsmacked by the crack and the ringing in my ears that I stood there shell-shocked & the marshal had to remove the gun from my numb fingers.

That having been said, I soon got into the rhythm of things. What the marshal said is true! Girls are Way better than boys at shooting.
With a Glock 17, at 5m, I got a perfect 50 points! *boggle*
At 13m, I got a bulls-eye! (I'm conveniently ignoring the 3,4, 7 and 8 that accompanied the bulls-eye *grin*)

One more thing to add to my "been there, done that" list.
It was *disturbing* how much I enjoyed myself.
Now to find a therapist... I had no idea that deep inside, I am somewhat of a sociopath. *laugh*

CNY was teh HAWT!

... and not even in a good way! :(

If reports are to be believed, it was 36C in the shade in Taiping.
TAIPING.
Once the wettest town in the whole goddamn country.
36C in the SHADE.
Fuck does not begin to cover it.

We hid in air-conditioned rooms (where available) and took umpteenth baths a day. What rain there was only made matters worse (read: HUMID). I had to wear sunblock in the house! OMFG I am SO brown now.

Being home with family was of course, terribly wonderful and wonderfully terrible. *laugh* Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that!

Tue - met up with old friends & gambled till 3am.
Weds - drove back to KL & had dinner with some friends & chatted till 3am.
Thr - worked, tried to sleep, but for some reason, slept only past 2am.
Fri - worked, partied till 5:30am
Sat - worked, yoga, partied till 4:30am
Sun - woke up @ 7:30am to sms my cousin that I wasn't coming for his fucking dawn breakfast, went back to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oy.... I don't recover as fast as I used to! *laugh*
The days when Pauline and I used to party till 5:30 and go to work the next day (and repeat ad nauseum till the weekend, when we *still* partied but didn't have to work!!!) are *SO* gone.

The week after CNY was peppered with company dinners and department lunches and CNY lunches with vendors, etc. I can NOT look another yee sang in the face! I am *so* keeping to a clean, refresing, simple diet for the next month or so! *laugh*

Simple diet (she says, googling for the choc lava dessert she saw on the food channel last night)... *giggle*

BaZinga!

Lisa introduced me to The Big Bang Theory. I LOVE LOVE LOVE!! :D

I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before! I allowed 3 whole seasons to pass without notice. How?????? Now I am all over-enthused and giggly over it.
It is smart and geeky and ENTIRELY Hilarious and *SO* me! Not that I'm smart or geeky or hilarious... but you already knew what I meant, right?! *grin*

Jim Parsons as Sheldon is PRICELESS. There are no words to describe how much I adore him. I know John Galecki as Leonard is supposed to be the main character, but it is Sheldon who's all perfect and brilliant and awkward and evil and Spock-like and OCD and I can so see how he is the human C3PO, and I think I'm in love.

They cast Christine Baranski as Lenord's mother. I LOVE Christine Branski and she was PERFECT! *laugh* Yes, I am gushing. This whole damn series was written for Me. Just ME!

The clip below is from the episode where Penny told Sheldon that she bought them xmas gifts. Not knowing what to give to her in return, Sheldon bought a whole bunch of gift baskets from Bed, Bath and Beyond. He plans to open her present, assess the value, and excuse himself to select an appropriate present from the bunch, returning the rest later. However, she presents him with a conundrum. J'ADORE that episode.

A Random question

Someone: ... Don't you want to get married?
(I was at a relative's wedding. The question was inevitable, really.)

Me: Sure. If the right man rocks up.
Someone: Aren't you afraid of growing old alone?
Me: I'm more afraid of waking up with someone I don't want to grow old with.
Someone: But nowadays it's so easy to get divorced... If the relationship sours, just divorce lah.

I was stunned into silence.

In chinky speak,
"Just get SOMEONE, ANYONE. Get married, don't like, can divorce mah. Easy only."

I don't have an answer to that.

Be Still My Beating Heart

I love it when you hold my hand
Enveloping mine
Strong, firm, comforting
Even if it's when we cross a road
Be still my beating heart

I love it when you hold me from behind
Your chin on my head
Your breath on my hair
When we're just standing in queue
You soothe my restless heart

I love it when you stroke the back of my hand
My breath catches, I dare not meet your wicked eyes
I know your lips are oh so close
And I know that soon, soon...
You quicken my lustful heart

I love it when you call my name
That name only lovers use
On the phone, against my skin, in my ear
Brings a blush to my cheeks
Be still my beating heart

I love it when you laugh out loud
That sound that resonates deep in your chest
It's like I'm swept up again, surrounded by you
All is well in our little world
You make light my heavy heart

I love that I know your stories, and you, mine
That I know your fears and plans, dreams and secret ambitions
And you know that I'll be there, even if it's just to listen
That I know which spots tickle
You soothe my lonely heart

I love it when you nod as if you care what manga I'm raving about
I love that you understand what a geek I am
What my family means to me
How insecure I am, how I hide it still
You know my aching heart

I love it when you catch my eye from across the room
I love it when we sing duets in the car
I love that you know the order of Kiss, Coffee & Cigarette, first thing in the morning.
It's the simple things...
Be still my beating heart

It's my party and I'll explode with joy if I want to

You wish you had my friends. You really really do. :)

It was a pretty good birthday already - only got out of bed at noon, quick lunch, yoga at 3, dinner with family. Supper with girlfriends would wrap it up nicely. It was the Mid-Autumn festival also, and Ann had asked if I wanted a mooncake as a birthday cake *laugh* I politely declined in favour of Caramel Banana Pancakes (YUM!).

Was supposed to be ready 10-ish, pick up Sham and meet Choon & Jason someplace or other. Sham calls me and says get ready, will sms/call when time to leave.

So I'm dressed & lazing about till it's time to go. She calls, and says ok let's go.
My dogs are going berserk outside, and I can barely hear her...

Then it occurs to me that I'm actually *hearing* MY OWN DOGS on the phone as I'm talking WITH her... There's this SURREAL moment when I'm processing this impossibility, and my legs are moving on heir own accord to the window, I look out & what do I see?

I see Sham, Choon, Jason, Sugee, Michelle, Chris & Kipsy walking down my road with LANTERNS!!!

LANTERNS!!! [insert dance of joy here]

I had told my dad on the same day that my lantern days were over... I was SO Wrong, obviously! *laugh* They sing Happy Birthday outside my gate, I hug them, all the time squealling something incomprehensible in a high pitch tone. *laugh* They had cupcakes & everything!!

We went to a mamak in Lucky Garden & ate & drank & laughed & told stupid jokes...

It was PERFECT.
Just PERFECT.

Bleach

Bleach is one of my not-so-secret indulgences. I was lucky enough to have caught on late, and had 225 episodes to be obsessive about. Jason, for one, has been ensnared for... 4 years now? Something like that. I don't know whether to thank him or slap him for this obsession I now harbour. *bleh*

However.

WTF is with this Arrancar arc??? We're talking about having started this arc in Season 6. It's now Season 12 and they're STILL battling the Espada. No, they've only just INTRODUCED most of the Espada. Come on already will ya?? This is worse than The Bold & The Beautiful that I mocked my late-grand-aunt for.

As filler episodes go (and mind you, they have filler SEASONS), the Zanpakuto coming alive is more entertaining than some.

However.

GET A MOVE ON ALREADY will ya?????? I'm about to lose interest. Seriously.

I don't have to move! :)

Sis got a slot in hostel - meaning she won't need to move in with my aunt, meaning I don't have to move :)

Save on petrol, save on cleaning, save on bills, save on anxiety! :)

A part of me is a little disappointed - had psyched myself up to moving out & being on my own, but this means I don't have to take on any additional expenses before I decide on my very own house :)

Moving on up...

I may be moving out. In a month.

My youngest sister, Lisa, is waiting for her university placement results. She's applied for digital/graphic design. Anticipating that our University system will cock up & offer her something ridiculous like dance or veterinary medicine (you laugh, but it's happened to people we actually know), mum has made arrangements to enroll her in a private college. If this private college option goes through, semester starts July 7th. She'll need a place to crash till the hostel space works itself out. That could be anywhere fr 3 - 9 months.

There's no space in the house for her as it stands now. There are some idiosyncrasies of my grand aunt that need to be preserved. I'm looking to buy a house, but even if I decide on one now, I won't be moving in for at least 6 months.

My aunt has an apartment in the city that's currently empty. It's a better solution than making the dining room a room for my sister. (I know! That's Completely WTFareyoutalkingaboutWillis??? Hence the alternative of me moving into the city)

So yeah. I may be moving out. In a month.

I've never been on my own. Ever. I went from my parents' house to my grand aunt's house when I came to KL for uni. And I've been there ever since.

Oh my God. I'm leaving Neverland. I'm terrified.
Cos Wendy darling, I sure don't want to grow up!
